We would like to welcome you to our site and hope that we can encourage you in your homeschooling. As we began homeschooling in 2001, we did a lot of research and read a lot of books on the subject. We had the same questions many parents do, like:
“Is homeschooling adequate?”
“Will my children be properly socialized?”
“What should I use for curriculum?”
“What role does dad play?”
“Will this be to overwhelming for me?”
and the list goes on!
We were overwhelmed with questions and the abundance of materials available to get those questions answered. Most resources only partially answered our questions, which lead to a lot of reading and discovery of differing opinions. With this experience, we found ourselves often answering other’s questions about homeschooling. We found that most concerns were basically the same. We discovered that there were a lot of different opinions on what is best and a lot of great reasons to homeschool. The problem with opinions is that you can find yourself unsure if you are following the right one.
We knew there was a way to be confident in a decision to homeschool and in the practices put in place to accomplish it.
As with most serious decisions in life, parents need to seek God’s opinion and direction for confidence in making a decision to homeschool. Not only does this provide a solid foundation to build on, but it helps gain perspective on the often trivial concerns we make such a big deal about.
We have witnessed other Christian parents waver in their decision to homeschool, place high importance on things that are eternally insignificant and miss the opportunity to shape their children in a way most parents do not afford themselves. Children are a “gift” and a “heritage” from the Lord, let’s not squander it!
